Motor Insurance Claims Customer Guide

Claiming Steps For Motor Insurance

1. Report the accident to the police

After ensuring you are safe, the first step is to report the accident to the police. The police will come to the scene for assessment. Later, they will issue you with a police abstract. We have put a few police contacts on the contacts page for your convenience.

2. Take photos and inform us

Take photos of the accident before leaving the scene and if possible, inform us as well. Use the contacts on the contacts page.

3. Move the vehicle

If The Vehicle Is motorable, drive to insurance company assessment centre or approved garaged. If the vehicle Is not motorable kindly call a towing company to get the vehicle to a garage. We’ll guide you on the specific garage or assesment centre to take your vehicle. A few towing companies have been put on the contacts page for your convenience.

4. FIll and submit the necessary documents

A downloadable copy of all claim forms can be found on our website by visiting; dawitinsurance.co.ke/downloads. Attach together with the claim form a copy of the driving licence and national ID of the one driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. Remember to fill the correct claim form with respect to your insurance company.

5. Vehicle assessment and repair

An immediate assessment of the damage will be done on the same day the vehicle is received at the assessment centre. Repair authority will be given immediately upon the assessment and all claims documents have been submitted. We’ll provide you with constant updates via email as your vehicle gets repaired. In case the vehicle is a write-off, please refer to the respective section below.

6. Release

Once all the repairs are complete, a release letter will be sent to the garage and to you the client. You’ll be required to sign a satisfaction note, therefore, inspect the vehicle and test it before doing so.
